Always make sure that: Children from birth to 2 years should be placed in a rear-facing car seat until they reach the highest weight or height allowed by the care seat's manufacuturer.   Harness straps should be at or above the shoulders.
Most seats require a top slot for forward facing positioning.
Belt positioning booster seats must be used with both lap and shoulder belts in place.
