Our in-house lab tests and diagnostic services allow us to deliver timely and accurate results, enhancing the overall care experience for your child. Below is a detailed overview of our laboratory offerings and x-ray services.
In-House Lab Tests
- Bilirubin Test for Newborns: Our bilirubin test is a crucial screening for newborns, helping to assess levels of bilirubin in the blood to detect jaundice early and monitor liver function. Quick and accurate results ensure that necessary interventions can be made promptly.
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): The CMP is a vital blood test that provides essential information about your child's metabolism, kidney and liver function, electrolyte levels, and overall biochemical status. This panel helps us evaluate organ function and maintain your child's health.
- Complete Blood Count (CBC): Our CBC test is fundamental for assessing your child’s overall health. It measures various components of blood, including red and white blood cells, hemoglobin, and platelets, allowing for the detection of a range of conditions such as infections, anemia, and more. We do this test routinely at 12 months of age and if you child shows signs of infection or anemia.
- Lead Test: We can test for lead to determine if your child is suffering from lead poisoning.
- Lipid Panel: We routinely check a lipid panel for our 11-year-old patients or earlier in specific situations. This test assesses various fats in the body, such as total cholesterol, Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) known as "bad" cholesterol (which can lead to plaque buildup in arteries), High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) termed "good" cholesterol (which helps remove cholesterol from the bloodstream), and triglycerides (elevated levels of which can increase heart disease risk). The lipid panel is important for evaluating cardiovascular health, particularly in children with a family history of heart issues, obesity, or other risk factors. Regular screenings help identify potential health concerns early and allow us to implement lifestyle changes or treatments that promote your child's overall well-being.
- Abbott ID NOW Tests: Our clinic uses the innovative Abbott ID NOW system to conduct rapid tests for: Flu, Strep, COVID-19, and RSV. These tests provide quick results, enabling us to diagnose and treat your child efficiently when they present with respiratory symptoms.
- BioFire Mini Panel: This more advanced test allows us to quickly identify respiratory pathogens, testing for five different viruses: RSV, Rhinovirus, COVID-19, Flu A, and Flu B. The BioFire Mini panel delivers rapid and accurate results, helping us tailor treatment strategies for your child effectively.
- BioFire Respiratory Panel: The BioFire respiratory panel expands upon the Mini panel, providing a broader range of testing for respiratory viruses. It’s essential for diagnosing complicated respiratory illness in children quickly.
- Urinalysis (UA) and Urine Culture: Our urinalysis provides critical information about your child's urinary health, screening for infections, kidney issues, and metabolic concerns. If necessary, we can perform a urine culture to identify specific bacterial infections and guide antibiotic treatment.
- Additional Lab Tests: For tests that are not performed in-house, we partner with LabCorp in Memphis, TN, and Arkansas Children's Hospital here in Little Rock, ensuring that your child receives the best possible care, with reliable and timely results for various specialized lab tests.
Lab test results are reported on our MyChart app. It is important to have MyChart up and running for your child to receive lab results. With MyChart, it is common for you to see the lab results before we do.
In-House X-Ray Department
In addition to our extensive lab services, we are proud to operate an in-house X-ray department that specializes in a wide variety of children's X-rays.
