Tdap Vaccine (Tetanus, Diphtheria, acellular Pertussis vaccine)

The ACIP has also recommended Tdap for adults (especially parents) who have close contact with infants less than 12 months of age. Parents who are immune to pertussis also protect their own children from the disease. ACOG, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends that all pregnant women receive a Tdap vaccine during the third trimester of each pregnancy. This not only protects the mother but also provides antibodies to protect the baby from pertussis after birth. This is an important recommendation.
